A white Christmas has come to RuneScape this year! It is a gift from the Queen of Snow, who has enlisted her cheeky snow imps for a festive task: to bring snow to some of RuneScape's major settlements. As far as the imps are concerned, you can do what you like with it: there's plenty more where it came from!

So, what can you do with snow? For a start you can make snowballs and, unlike last Christmas's snowballs, you can throw them at other players. If you ever get tired of pelting each other with snowballs, you can use the same snow to build snowmen. The snow imps will even provide a selection of hats to add a finishing touch. The hats are infused with Christmas magic, so they might do more to the snowmen than just make them look good.

Once you've built a snowman, the snow imps will give you a chance to visit the Land of Snow itself and contribute to the great Snow Tournament. The Queen of Snow herself presides over the tournament and, this being Christmas, she might even have a present for you.

The Christmas event is open for two weeks and can be accessed by both free-to-play and members.

Summary

Where to start the 2007 Christmas Event
Talk to the snow imps in Draynor, Falador, Ardougne, Burthorpe or Rellekka.

Note: The snowman hats and accessories will disappear once the Christmas event ends.

Access to
A snowman area the size of Draynor Village
Snowballs that can be thrown at other players
A total of eight different snowmen that can be built
New item and emote!

In other news...

Players using LootShare in the God Wars Dungeon will now be able to increase their killcount. If a LootSharing group gets a kill, the player with the lowest killcount receives an increase to their relevant tally.

Dwarf cannon sets and light and dark mystic sets have been added to the Grand Exchange. We've also changed the descriptions on existing sets to be a little more helpful.

The minimum score required to get onto the Hiscores has been reduced from 500 to 250 for Bounty Hunter and Bounty Hunter Rogues. As usual, you will need to login before you appear on the Hiscore tables.

Christmas 2007 Event Guide
Welcome to the Land of Snow

The real spirit of Christmas has returned to RuneScape this year. There are no gublinch plots to foil and no need to clean up anyone's marionette-based mess (thanks, Diango). The Queen of Snow, benevolent ruler of the Land of Snow, has realised she's been a bit lax in her duty to send snow to RuneScape at Christmas-time.

Snow imps

Realising this, she's sent out a band of snow imps to RuneScape's major cities to make it snow and spread Christmas cheer. You'll be able to find snow imps wandering around in Draynor and Falador, with more imps in the members' only cities of Ardougne, Burthorpe and Rellekka.

Snowball fiiight!

These cheerful relatives of imps and implings gain much joy from simply making it snow and watching what other people do with it. What better to do with snow than to collect it into snowballs...and unlike last year, you can throw these snowballs at more than just gublinch - any monster or player you fancy pelting is fair game - although they're classed as a 'fun' weapon, so you'll 'only' be able to have snowball fights with other players in the Duel Arena, Castle Wars, TzHaar Fight Pit, Bounty Hunter and Clan Wars areas. Ooh, imagine, clan vs clan snowball fights...

Snowmen
Alternatively, you could use those snowballs to build a snowman. Just right-click a snowball in your inventory and select 'Build' to start. Then, just 'Add-snow' by left-clicking on your snowman to add more to it - you can help each other to finish off snowmen, as they take a fair bit of snow to make. Once you've made the snowman big enough, it just needs finishing off with some decorations. Talk to one of those cheeky snow imps and ask for a hat to use on the snowman you built. The hats, combined with the magic of the snow imps' snow, will make the snowmen literally come alive. Any players who help to build a snowman will also unlock the new 'Snowman dance' emote.

Snow Tournament
The snow imps will also transport you to the Land of Snow, where you'll be able to build other types of snowmen - ask the snow imps in the Land of Snow for a snowman weapon, and use one of these to finish your snowman. Only snowmen can wield these weapons - there's one for each point of the combat triangle - and they'll happily use them in the Snow Tournament to battle each other. If you throw a snowball at a combat snowman, you'll heal it a little, so you can back your favourite combat skill. Which will come out on top: melee, Ranged or Magic?
