PVM Event Changes

Hi all,

You may remember a while ago I put up a suggestions thread to get your ideas on how we can improve our clan PVM offering, the main points you ladies and gents raised were:

  • Easy bosses removed from our focus (maybe run as community events like corp kbd etc)
  • Boss owners or PVM managers running teams ad-hoc
  • A re-think or clarification on how we split loot
  • Some kind of forum area for organising/guides on the hard bosses

Following this we have tested different loot splitting ideas and some of you have already taken part in the vorago team tests. You will also have seen that the learn2PVM event and the 4pm Sunday PVM event have disappeared and are probably wondering why! Well let me explain :D

We have come up with a new improved way of running our PVM events, with this new system anyone can run a PVM event at any time (as long as there isn't an official event already running!) and we will reward those attending with activity points. You can earn up to 8 event points a month from attending these new ad-hoc PVM events for the following bosses:

  • Nex
  • Vorago
  • Rise of the Six
  • Kalphite King
  • Araxxor (Duo)
  • Hardmode GWD

The other bosses such as corp, normal god wars and kbd will we still run but as a community event instead in the normal slots. Loot splitting will be left up to the person hosting the trip, as long as all members agree before hand. This brings me onto the other part of these changes - PVM mentors. We used to have them ages ago to help lead PVM trips, answer questions and teach people new roles but somehow they disappeared, we are looking to bring them back! We have some very experienced PVMers in TBE and it will be great if they can use their experience to try to get other people trained up and taking on new roles at the high level bosses.

Wise and Razor have been busy putting together the full detail on the PVM event changes and PVM mentors available here:
PVM Events
PVM Mentors

All thats left for me to say is give it a chance, it may not be perfect from day 1 but we can tweak and change parts if they are not working, please let us know if you have any more ideas to help. Make sure you get stuck in and don't be afraid to try something new, also to those experienced PVMers - Make yourself known to us and get involved. Hopefully this will lead to further clan growth and lots of great boss loot!

This is brilliant incentive for some of us less agile PVMers to get to grips with the more basic concepts of PVM, and whilst still earning event points this is definitely something I see myself getting involved with.

Loot split: About time if I may say so, I think we'll see a lot more players attending PVM events with this new change! Brilliant work JB & OTHERS :D

Very good decision!
Just think that Corp could've made it to those bosses as there are still loads of people teaming up for it, but very well done nonetheless

Supported for sure!

Looks interesting, so to be clear then.

Event's such as DKS, normal GWD cannot be run as pvm events for event points?
Only the high level pvm mentioned in the yellow list count?

Yes, were intending this to be a focus on high level PVM to improve our capability, the easier ones like DKs and normal GWD anyone can rock up to get crack on with so more a community event, plus the friday fight night PVM event will host some of these too.

I get that we are gearing this towards higher level pvm, but I just think it's exclusive rather than inclusive.

It's geared towards existing high level pvm'ers and I think the gear requirements for the majority of bosses will mean that not a lot of new people will participate.

E.G. I'd love to go Vorago/Nex but really the only high level gear I have is melee based, and my other gear is negligible, having the lower level events run at will for event points will get more participation.

So to summarise because I am terrible at being clear.

Letting members run any kind of pvm event when they want will get more participation than limiting it to high level pvm where a lot of restrictions will be around gear.

Corporeal Beast was included until about 10 minutes before the post was made, the general opinion was then put forward to not include it.

We can change that should their be enough demand for it :p

On that note, you just reminded me that I forgot to remove a mention of Corp in one of the other posts, opps!

But realistically you can't just throw people into high level pvm, why not encourage lower level pvm as well and then as a natural progression people will move onto high level pvm.

Nobodies being thrown anywhere, we are trying to train people up to take some of the pressure off of those members who can do high level non-dps PVM roles currently. We tried training lowers up with the l2PVM events but turnout was minimal and we have now listened to the members feedback posted here to come up with a different approach:

But really it's not about training is it?

It's a case of people building up the gear and experience.

Maybe the L2pvm events were the wrong approach, and tweaked, this one could be the right approach, I just don't think it makes sense to exclude lower level pvm events from this new structure.

It is about training - We unfairly rely on one or two people at the moment if we want to do a higher level pvm event and its a problem

I do hear what you are saying about lower levels but there are more than enough other events to get these in and get lower levels interested

Why didn't you post on the ideas thread about this before we spent a lot of time and effort coming up with this, rather than now?

Because I actually think this is a good system, I've been a part of a pvm clan before where the event system was like this, people hosted random events off their own backs.

I just think limiting it to certain high level pvm is a bad way to go about it.

Why not open it up to all team based pvm, that's my 2 cents, otherwise only a very few amount of people will interact/benefit.

for all of those who are worried about there being no 'lower' levelled pvm events, don't worry there is still going to be friday pvm events staying as they have been and polled events with corp and gwd bosses available as a choice.
i personally see no downside to this, there is still just as much 'lower' levelled pvm as before but now you also have the OPTION to try out some harder bosses.
